Blog Description

Welcome to the Rowan Family Blog! I finally gave in and decided to make one so that it would be easier for family and friends to keep up with little Miss Callie and now little Miss Hailey! I hope to keep a good record of the happenings in their lives and the joys that come with being a family. God has truly blessed us with our girls and we are so excited to be parents to them and Chile!

Memories from last year

Well I was randomly looking through some pictures on our computer upstairs and came across these from last year. I thought it might be cool to post some pictures from the end of the school year in Del Rio and Matt's graduation festivities. These are the pictures from the second to last day of school. This was my class, and even though they were a crazy bunch of kids, it almost made me cry looking at these. I miss them so much, and I cant believe that they are in 3rd grade this year!

Here is a pic of Matt and I. He came to meet the kids, and they were sooooo excited to meet "Mr. Rowan"!

This is our "normal" picture.

This is our "silly picture". :) Here are some pictures of Matt's UPT Graduation where he got his Air Force Wings. I am just so proud of him. He worked so hard for those wings, and he deserves them! :)

"Aunt" Amanda's Visit!

Well one of my best friends came in town to see Callie for the first time. She drove all the way from Clovis, NM which was a twelve hour drive! It has been so much fun hanging out all week. Callie, Amanda and I have gone out to lunch and out shopping many times! Today we had Callie's two month check up and shots! The shots were not fun, but she only cried for a minute or so. Everyone in the waiting room was hurting for Callie. They all had a sad face when she started crying. So did Amanda and I! Amanda waited in the waiting room while I took her back for shots and she said that everyone said aww when Callie started crying. She has 2 red crayon shaped band aids on her chubby little thighs! But other than that her appointment went great. She weighed 11 lb and 13 oz which puts her in the 58th percentile. Her length was 23.5 inches, which puts her in the 78th percentile! Now I already had a talk with Callie and told her to enjoy being in the 78th percentile for length while she still can! Ha! Her head measured 39cm which is in the 39th percentile. Dr. Swarts was very happy with Callie's growth and progress. One thing that we are going to start working more on is tummy time, so that she can get her arm strenth up to help her lift her head up. I am soo happy that her appointment went so well today! She is growing healthy and strong! We are so blessed to have Callie Michelle in our lives! I love that girlie sooo much!
Here is the band aid that Callie has! Such a big girl! She was so brave!!
Here are some pictures of Amanda's visit. Love you all!! Oh and hopefully in a few days we will get the pictures back that we had taken of Callie. The photographer has a website where you put in a password to view all of the pictures. I will post that when I get it! :)

Callie is almost 2 months!!!

Wow, time has absolutely flown by! Our sweet little girl is almost 2 months old! I really don't know where it has gone! Callie is growing so much lately. When she was born she weighed 7lb 12oz and now she weighs over 11 lbs! We are finally settling into a routine. She is sleeping from about 11pm to 9am (waking up 3 times to eat). During the day she enjoys her swing, floor gym, bouncer and snuggling with mommy of course! She also loves riding in her Baby Bjorn carrier. I love that thing! It is so nice to be able to carry her around the house and still have both hands free! But she is getting so heavy!! Good thing for my back she's not in my tummy any more! My favorite thing is her smile. She has really started smiling a lot now! She gives her daddy big smiles when he holds her and makes funny noises. :) She is really starting to look at her toys and enjoy playing on her floor gym. You can really tell that she is looking around and taking it all in. Another thing that she has started doing recently is cooing. She makes the most adorable little baby noises. I'm so blessed to be her mommy. Another really amazing thing is watching Matt as a daddy. It is the most wonderful thing I have ever seen. He loves her so much! I love watching him hold her and play with her. He gets so excited when she smiles and makes her sweet little noises! Yesterday I caught them sleeping on the couch together and it was the sweetest sight. Matt is such a wonderful daddy and I am very thankful for him! Well with Matt's crazy shift work, it makes it really difficult to go to church together as a family. But this past Sunday Callie went to church for the first time. She sat with us through the whole service and didn't cry once! I was so proud. Until next time... love you all! Here are some random pictures! Enjoy

Callie Michelle Rowan

God blessed us with our little girl on June 15th 2010! Matt and I went to the hospital on the 14th to be induced. Everything was progressing very well and at about 4:30 on the 15th I started pushing. Unfortunately, Callie just wasn't going to be able to fit, so I had a c-section and she was delivered at 8:01 pm. Callie was 7 lb and 12 oz and 20 1/2" long. Her head circumference was 14.5". Our good friend John from college happened to be working with the OB that day and was able to help bring Callie into the world. How awesome is that?! It was a very long day, but when I saw my sweet little baby girl it was all more than worth it! We came home from the hospital on June 17th. All of the doctors said that Callie looked great! Matt and I are so in love with her and are enjoying getting to know her better every day. We were fortunate enough to have my family in town during Callie's birth. Mom, Dad, Lindsey and Uncle Ryan were all here to support us and share some love with little Miss Callie. Mom and Dad look awesome as new grandparents! I'm pretty sure that Callie has stolen their hearts! Dad already has a nickname for her (of course!) Penelope Mick. It is such a blessing to see my dad hold his first grandchild, and we are so thankful to God for it. I don't know what I would have done without my Mom and sister here. They were so awesome while I was recovering from surgery. Aunt Lindsey even stayed with her one night and brought her to me when she needed to eat. That was so nice since I was still in pain from the surgery. Thanks Linds!! While they were here we took Callie to her first restaurant. We went to TGI Friday's and she just slept the whole time! We also took her up to Mt. Charleston. It was absolutely beautiful up there and I'm glad Callie got to see God's beautiful creation so early in her life. Here are some pictures!

Family picture at Mt. Charleston. Callie is only 4 days old!!
As soon as my parents left to go home Matt's parents got here. It was so nice having family around for the first two weeks. Debbie cooked all of the meals and just loved and held Callie as much as she could. Marty also enjoyed playing with Callie! Matt and I are so grateful to both of our families for all of the love and support that they have shown us! They are all wonderful grandparents and Callie is one lucky little girl!

Callie and Grandma!

Chile wanted to be in a picture too!!

Callie sure enjoyed her time with Grandparents!
Since then Callie has had her two week appointment. She weighed in at 8 lb and 6 oz and was 21" long! We have a growing girl! A week later I weighed her and she was right at 9 lbs! I can't believe how quickly she is growing!! Matt started back to work and Callie and I survived our first week home alone. She is an absolute joy and I love being her Mommy!
